The image above shows a handful of the Wordpress and bespoke websites Melted Media have built recently. These include a mixture of recent WordPress sites, plus bespoke websites built with PHP. Melted Media also regularly embark on own in-house projects using WordPress. Here's some further information about some of these websites.

WordPress websites

Amongst the recent WordPress websites Melted Media have built is the sit for Jane Woodhead. Jane provides editing and proofreading services and is based in Reading. Jane had very concise ideas on structure and layout - as you would expect of someone in the copy-writing field - so this website came together very easily.

Another recent WordPress job was the pickpackpost.me website, created for a family run eBay fulfilment business also based in Reading. Established for 17 years, they needed a website to showcase their service in eBay order fulfilment, eBay storage and eBay customer service.

Bespoke websites

Melted Media also have a healthy portfolio of bespoke websites. Long-time client Katy Powell is one of the partners at Blaze Farm, the award winning Ice Cream Farm in Cheshire. Famous for their Hilly Billy Ice Cream - all made on the farm using milk from the Peak District - and Tea Rooms offering mouth-watering home baked cakes and we're worth a visit all year round!

Melted Media were also selected to build the website for Chris Simpson Electrical Services, who provide installation, maintenance and repair services to domestic, commercial and industrial customers throughout the North West of England. As well as the typical elements of a brochure website, additional article pages were created covering various topics such as finding electricians in your local area.

Newsletter sites

Melted Media developed a bespoke newsletter engine for managing subscribers and creating and publishing email newsletters. This engine has been used to build a number of newsletter websites. The most notable examples currently live are newsletter sites for Rotary District 1285 (North West of England Rotary Clubs) and Sale Golf Club, a friendly golf club in South Manchester that gladly welcomes visitors and new golfers.

In-house WordPress projects

As well as website builds for clients, Melted Media also like to work on their own projects with WordPress. A recent project was Everything Baby, a site designed to be a portal for everything baby-related. The site is populated automatically using product feeds from affiliate networks and also uses WooCommerce, the ecommerce plugin for WordPress.

An older project along the same lines was Miss KG Shoes. Again, this was built to automatically generate content based on a product feed, but rather then using WooCommerce, the products are added as posts via the WordPress API. It was originally developed quite a while back, so the team have recently made it mobile-friendly using the excellent WPtouch plugin.

The potted history of Melted Media

Melted Media were formed in 2002 and were mainly in the business of deveoping educational CD-ROMs. Before too long they moved to building for the web, initially developing games pnmultimedia platforms Macromedia Shockwave and Flash and then finally moving into building full websites.

Melted Media was born out of Europress Software - an educational and entertainment software publisher - when two former employees started the company after Europess ceased trading in June 2002. Melted Media's first project was developing a series of CD-ROMs to be released under the old Europress brand name.

The next five years, would see Melted Media develop over 20 educational and licenced titles, working for several different UK software publishers. The most notably of these titles was Art Attack Digital, a flexible and creative PC CD-ROM designed for use by children or all ages and abilities. The program charted at No. 1 on the Amazon.co.uk Hot 100 in the run up to Christmas 2004.

Soon after Melted Media would be commissioned to develop several online games, working on projects for well-known brands like Toyota and Carlsberg. This encouraged them to develop their own games such as Autofrag Sumo, a 3D Shockwave racing and combat game. This turned out to be a great advert for the company, the game reaching No.1 in the Channel4.com 4GAMES CHART from October 2004 to October 2007.

The projects the team worked on got ever more varied and it wasn't long before they started to take on full website projects. Over the last 13 years much of their focus has been on taking on web design in Macclesfield for both small local businesses and larger online retailers with multi-million pounds annual sale revenue. All of this has given them a vast amount of experience to draw on and allowed them to be involved in projects of all sizes and complexity. They help small and medium sized businesses with their next website and have fine-tuned the process to be as pain free as possible. This is why they love WordPress for developing websites. Carry on reading to find out why.
